Your first visit to our office is a critical initial step in treating your dental condition. It’s a chance for us to learn not only about your teeth, but also about some of the things we can do to make your experience as comfortable for you as possible.
Usually, your initial appointment will consist of a detailed consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. In some situations, we may need to perform surgery the same day as your consultation. However, most patients will require an evaluation with a second appointment for treatment at a later date.
To ensure your initial consultation goes as smoothly as possible, we ask that you bring:
Having these items available will help us treat you more quickly and efficiently.
Important: Please remember that all patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
In addition, please alert the office if you or your child has a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery. These conditions include diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves or joints, rheumatic fever and other conditions. You should also alert us if you take any drugs such as heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy or other treatments that may require special care.
If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If they can’t be forwarded to our office in time for your appointment, please pick them up and bring them with you. If additional films are necessary, we will take them at our office.
Remember, an important part of the initial consultation is not only understanding your dental condition, but also getting to know you. That way we can plan a course of treatment best suited to achieving the outcome you want. By following these few steps, you’ll be making important progress to the best possible result.
